Jordanien
We are proud to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive monitoring study commissioned by GIZ under the "Waste to (positive) Energy" (Wt(p)E) project. This initiative, co-financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (EUTF Syria) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), focused on improving environmental health and solid waste management services in Syrian refugee camps and host communities across Jordan.
As the contracted consulting firm, WEE Pros led the implementation of this assignment between February and April 2025, deploying a multidisciplinary team of experts in environmental management, field research, and stakeholder engagement.
The study assessed the impact of project interventions through:
Quantitative surveys involving over 1,100 respondents across Za’atari Camp, Azraq Camp, and eight host municipalities.
Focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including local authorities, municipal staff, and camp management representatives.
Evaluation of public awareness and behavior change related to waste prevention, recycling, and hygiene practices.
This evidence-based assessment provided valuable insights into the evolving environmental health landscape and solid waste services in target communities. The findings will inform the ongoing efforts of GIZ, national counterparts, and local partners in strengthening integrated waste management systems and promoting sustainable behavior change.
We extend our sincere thanks to GIZ Jordan for their trust and partnership, and to all stakeholders and community members who generously contributed their time and perspectives.
